Introduction CE mark

Product saftey is ensuring correct prossess are used to conform with the associated legislation each specific piece of equipment falls within. 

Market surviellance is carried out by HSENI to ensure products which are being used / manufactured within our market places are compliant to the legislation and safe for use.

The Product Safety Team focus on legislation concerned with the design, manufacture and supply of new products, including:

  1. Designing and building for safety
  2. Assessing product conformity
  3. Demonstrating product compliance
  4. Providing users with relevant information

Most new products come within the scope of one or more regulations and Directives, all have a common requirement for Conformity marking. However, some work equipment that is not powered or used to lift - such as hand tools, racking and ladders - does not come within the scope of these regulations and must not be Conformity marked.

Who needs to comply with the legislation?

All equipment which is used in the industrial setting within Northern Ireland must comply with the associated legislation the equipment falls under, even if it is built and used by yourself.
