Authorisation No. 1034 (Rev.1)

The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 (as amended).

Applicable to Carriage by Road Only

This authorisation is given in accordance with Regulation 9 of The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 (as amended) (CDG 2010).

Purpose

To permit tanks, battery-vehicles and MEGCs the elements of which are tanks with a valid type-approval and initial and periodic (if applicable) or exceptional (if applicable) inspection certificate, issued under the applicable provisions of the Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) to be filled or offered for carriage and used without an intermediate inspection certificate on the roads of Northern Ireland within the three months after the specified date for an intermediate inspection.

Time limit

Unless otherwise revoked or superseded, this authorisation shall be valid for each eligible tank, and battery-vehicle and MEGC the elements of which are tanks, for three months after the specified date for an intermediate inspection.

Alternative carriage provisions

1. This authorisation is limited to use only on roads in Northern Ireland and is applicable only to tanks, battery-vehicles and MEGCs the elements of which are tanks:

  • require an intermediate inspection under the provisions of ADR 6.8.2.4.3, and
  • possess a valid type-approval and initial and periodic (if applicable) or exceptional (if applicable) inspection certificate as required by ADR 6.8.2.3, 6.8.2.4.1, 6.8.2.4.2 and 6.8.2.4.4 issued by an inspection body appointed or recognised (ADR 1.8.6 refers) by the Competent Authority of the United Kingdom

    Note: an inspection certificate required by ADR 6.8.2.4.2, 6.8.2.4.3 and 6.8.2.4.4 that has been extended by a Department for Transport authorisation shall be regarded as a valid inspection certificate.

2. A copy of this authorisation shall accompany the tank, battery-vehicle or MEGC in question always.

All other provisions of CDG 2010 shall be complied with at all times.
