Farm Safety Partnership presents recognition award

Date published: 13 February 2020

The Farm Safety Partnership (FSP) today presented Polaris Safety Training and Rescue with an award for their contribution to health and safety for farming families.

Polaris Safety Training & Rescue is a health and safety training centre, designed to match the health and safety needs of the farming, construction, and solar industries. Their staff have engaged with the local farming community to drive up health and safety standards, and significantly reduce work-related death, injuries and illness on local farms.

Polaris staff have assisted HSENI / FSP by arranging photoshoots to promote safe working at heights on farms, as well as attending the Balmoral Show demonstrating ladder safety / safe working at heights on farms, and offered follow-up advice for people who work in farming environments. Their staff also promote farm safety through their social media sites.

The FSP decided because of their contribution to raising awareness of health and safety standards within the local farming community, Polaris were worthy winners of the award.

Harry Sinclair, Chair of the Farm Safety Partnership, said: “Polaris Safety Training and Rescue have assisted the Farm Safety Partnership in raising the profile of health, wellbeing and safety of farming families.

“Farming is a vital part of the Northern Ireland economy, so it is important that the FSP and its Affiliates continue to work together to drive forward improvements in the farming community’s health and safety, and make farms safer places to work.”

The Farm Safety Partnership was also very impressed with the contribution from the Northern Ireland Safety Group (NISG), the Livestock and Meat Commission, and the Northern Health and Social Care Trust (NHSCT) in promoting farm safety through their work, and awarded the three Affiliates ‘Highly Commended’ certificates.
