Capita Gas Registration and Ancillary Services (CGRAS) – a division of Capita Plc have been declared the preferred bidder to provide Gas Safe registration services from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2024 under a single UK wide Service Concession Agreement (SCA). The Gas Safe Register (GSR) provides the official list of gas engineers registered to work legally and safely in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

There is no action required for businesses and engineers currently registered and no change to registrations or renewal dates. All contact numbers will remain the same and registered engineers will be informed by the provider of any changes to the service that may affect them before they are introduced.
Anyone working on a gas appliance without being registered is doing so illegally and could face prosecution.
Every registered business employs an engineer(s), who is issued with a Gas Safe ID card. Not all engineers are qualified to do all types of gas work – so remember to check their ID card before any work is carried out.
